Steven was raised in Pasco, Washington where he grew up wakeboarding in the Columbia River, bailing hay, and pole vaulting. He enjoys welding and machinery and wanted to be a welder or a crane operator before he served a mission to Nevada and met the PA who ignited Steven’s real dream to help people through medicine.
Steven started his career in medicine at BYU-Idaho as an EMT and then Paramedic, interning in Oklahoma City with the Emergency Medical Services Authority. He graduated from BYU-Idaho with a Bachelor's degree in Emergency Services Administration and then attended the Physician Assistant program at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions in Provo, UT. After graduating he began practicing family medicine at Lapine Community Health Center in Oregon, but then was thrilled to have the opportunity to return to Rexburg to work at Fall River Medical.
Steven has a passion for people and strives to help his patients to be healthy all the way around: physically, mentally, and emotionally. He practices what he preaches and completed his first olympic-distance triathlon in 2016, first full marathon in 2019, and enjoys riding his bicycle to the clinic in sunshine, rain, or snow.
In Steven’s free time you will find him chasing around his 5 children with his wife, Chelsea. They enjoy all things outdoors: camping, hiking, kayaking, biking, and skiing.
