Dr. Shelby Nordmann

Dr. Shelby Nordmann was born and raised in rural Minnesota where she completed her undergraduate education in biology, chemistry, and neuroscience. She spent her summers growing up working in Western Montana with family which is where she fell in love with mountains and the communities in the West.

She spent high school and college working as a CNA in long term care facilities which solidified her interest in comprehensive family care. She completed her clinical training in Miami, Florida working with primarily underserved populations. Outside of medicine, she enjoys hiking, camping, backpacking, horseback riding, volunteering, and doing anything outdoors while spending time with friends and family. Her interests in family medicine are broad spectrum and span from the beginning of life to the end: including obstetrics to hospice/palliative care, pediatrics, and general continuity of care with families in rural areas.

What is your favorite part of medicine?
“My favorite thing about practicing medicine, especially in Rexburg, is that I truly get to care for the community I live in. I have some families where I see all 4 generations. Being able to take care of a
pregnancy, deliver a baby and see them in the hospital and clinic, then also see their family members in the hospital or the clinic settings is such a privilege.”

What is something you want patients to know?
“I want patients to know and feel that they are respected, heard, and that we will tackle their medical concerns together in a way that is going to work for their life and their values.”

Dr. Nordmann is currently taking new patients and will have a full open schedule come April 2024.
